Next season of 'Dancing 9' set for June

Cable channel Mnet announced yesterday that the second season of its dancing survival program "Dancing 9" will kick off in June.

"Dancing 9" will start taking applications from Jan. 23 through Mnet's official website. People can now team up to enter the survival audition program, differing from the first season of last year, which only allowed solo dancers or duos to compete.

The winning team will receive prizes worth 500 million won ($470,297).

Hoping to gather more attention from TV audiences, the broadcaster decided to move the program's air time from Saturday to Friday because it usually plays its most popular programs on Fridays. The "Superstar K" series, for example, was shown late at night on Fridays.

"We wanted to try something new and support more various forms of teams so that anyone who is talented in dancing or interested in it can apply for the program," said the production team.
