SBS says ‘no’ to Gary’s song

The racy new music video for “Shower Later,” a song by the singer Gary of hip-hop duo Leessang, won’t be shown on SBS, one of Korea’s three terrestrial channels.
Released Wednesday, the song shot to the top of most charts, but the channel has deemed it too vulgar to be shown. It is also refusing to allow the song to be performed on the channel’s live shows.
“The lyrics include some provocative phrases and other vulgar language,” said SBS, according to local media. “We’ve decided that it could be a negative influence on teenagers, so we’ve decided not to air it.”
“Shower Later” is about what lovers talk about in bed, and the video features a number of scantily dressed models acting quite suggestively.
The other two terrestrial channels, KBS and MBC, have not yet announced any decision whether they will allow the song or the music video to be aired. Many industry experts, however, speculate that they could also ban the song and video.
KBS and MBC are considered public channels in Korea and are required to evaluate their programming strictly, based on broad community standards.
