Han Ye-seul makes comeback

테스트

Three years after actress Han Ye-seul, 33, left the local film and drama industry, media reports surfaced yesterday that she was recently cast to play a lead role in an upcoming SBS drama scheduled to air next month.

The weekend drama, “Birth of a Beauty,” will feature Han undergoing a head-to-toe makeover achieved through plastic surgery and weight loss.

Han’s last work was in 2011 with her lead role in the KBS drama “Spy Myeong-wol.” It was then that her endearing image was tarnished after she failed to appear on set and fled to her parents’ house in Los Angeles, citing a hectic schedule and problems with staff members.

While covering the case in August 2011, the Korea JoongAng Daily quoted the KBS drama department’s team leader at the time, Go Young-tak, as saying that Han’s departure from the series was seen as “utterly irresponsible” and that “the work schedule wasn’t as hectic as other dramas.”

Following statements by KBS that the public broadcaster would take the case to court, the celebrity returned a few days afterward but was described as having a spunky attitude.

According to media at the time, the actress said she believed her actions were “righteous” and that she hoped no one else would become a “scapegoat” like her.

Han rose to mega-stardom during the 2000s, when she acted in the hit MBC sitcom “Nonstop 4” (2004) and later in the MBC drama “Couple or Trouble” (2006).
