[Sponsored Report] Coupang hits 1 billion rocket delivery orders
The rocket delivery service is an end-to-end logistics operation that sees shipments handled by logistics centers that are directly operated by Coupang and delivered by drivers hired by the ecommerce giant. This ensures that the same level of service is maintained throughout the fulfillment chain.
Customers were enthusiastic about using the service to get most products delivered the very next day and Coupang continued to grow rapidly every year. The first rocket delivery shipments were launched in 2014, with 23 million deliveries that year.
This year Coupang has already sent out 261 million rocket deliveries as of Sept. 15. There are now about 3.5 million different items that are available using the service.
Coupang will hire 1,000 new delivery drivers by the end of the year to continue developing its rocket delivery service. In addition, the company has recently introduced a new system called Coupang Flex. The system, which allows employees to choose their own hours and adapt their working schedule around their personal life, has so far proven very popular.
Navid Veiseh, ecommerce SVP at Coupang, credited the success of rocket delivery to the group’s infrastructure, product range and competitiveness. He added that the website will continue to develop new services to improve the customer experience.
