Nothing’s better than ‘Butter’ on Japan’s Oricon Chart
“Butter,” the second English-lyric track by K-pop phenomenon BTS, topped the Weekly Streaming and Weekly Digital Singles Rankings on Japan’s Oricon Chart in the first week of its release, according to Big Hit Music on Wednesday.
Oricon Chart announced that “Butter,” which was released last Friday, was streamed over 16,607,000 times in three days. That was a record for Oricon in the first week of a song’s release, the agency said.
BTS ranked No. 1 on Oricon’s Weekly Streaming Ranking with two previous tracks: “Dynamite” (2020) and “Film Out” (2021).
“Butter” is the third BTS song to get more than 10 million streams on the Oricon chart and it is the only group in history to accomplish that.
“Butter” topped the Weekly Digital Singles Ranking as well, after surpassing 52,800 downloads. It was the second time the boy band topped this category after “Film Out.”
The K-pop sensation’s summer song is seeing success in other parts of the world too. It was streamed over 20.9 million times on global music streaming service Spotify on the first day of its release, exceeding most songs on their first day.
