Actor Jisoo, who halted all his activities after he admitted to school violence, terminated his contract with agency Keyeast and announced he will independently take legal measures against those who are allegedly circulating false rumors about him online.

학교폭력을 인정하고 모든 활동을 중단한 배우 지수가 소속사 키이스트와 전속계약을 종료한 후 온라인에서 떠도는 일부 허위사실을 바로잡겠다며 독자적으로 법적 대응을 할 것이라고 밝혔다.

“After Jisoo was accused of being involved in bullying, he immediately uploaded a handwritten apology on his social media account and personally apologized to the victims whom he could contact,” his lawyer Kim Jung-oh from the law fi rm Shin and Kim said in a statement.

지수의 법률대리인인 법무법인 세종은 입장문을 내고 “지수가 학폭에 대한 주장이 제기된 후 곧바로 소셜미디어에 자필 사과문을 게재하고 연락이 닿는 모든 분께 직접 용서를 구했다”고 밝혔다.

“But there were some completely false accusations, in particular related to sexual violence, which have been spreading online. Because my client has spent time silently repenting, [the public] seems to regard everything as true,” he explained.

그러면서 “제기된 주장 중에선 완전히 허위인 사실들이 있었으나, 특히 과거 ‘성범죄를 저질렀다’는 등의 주장들이 온라인을 통해 확대 재생산되었다,” “하지만 의뢰인은 과거 자신의 행동을 반성하는 차원에서 침묵하는 동안 위와 같은 주장들이 모두 진실인 것처럼 받아들여지고 있다”고 설명했다.

“Jisoo wants to straighten out the facts and illuminate the truth, and he is taking legal action against those who wrote false rumors about him.”

법률대리인은 “이에 지수는 사실을 바로잡고 진실을 밝히고자 허위사실을 쓴 글 게시자들에 대해 법적 대응을 하고 있다”고 말했다.

Keyeast also made an announcement about the termination of the contract earlier in the day. “We evaluated that in the current situation, Jisoo cannot act and the actor did not want to further damage the agency,” the agency said. “We respected the actor’s decision and decided to terminate our contract based on a mutual agreement.”

이에 앞서 키이스트는 이날 지수와의 전속계약을 해지했다고 밝혔다. 키이스트는 “현재 지수가 활동이 어렵다고 판단했고, 소속사에 더는 피해를 주고 싶어하지 않는 배우 본인의 의사를 존중해 상호합의하에 최종적으로 계약 해지를 결정했다”고 설명했다.

In March, a series of accusations were posted online, alleging the actor was a bully.

앞서 지수는 지난 3월 학창시절 학폭 가해자로 지목되었고 관련한 여러 의혹들이 온라인에 퍼졌다.

Jisoo immediately responded, admitting to his past misdeeds. He was dropped from the KBS series “River Where the Moon Rises” in which he was starring as the lead role and was replaced by Na Inwoo.

지수는 과거의 잘못을 인정하며 바로 대응을 하였다. 그는 당시 주인공으로 출연 중이던 KBS 드라마 “달이 뜨는 강”에서도 하차했고, 이후 나인우가 교체 투입되었다.

The production studio of the series, Victory Contents, filed 3 billion-won ($2.6 million) in compensation from Keyeast for the damages caused by having to reshoot the drama. “We will do our best to amicably resolve the ongoing lawsuit related to ‘Moon Where the River Rises,’” the agency said.

드라마 제작사인 빅토리콘텐츠는 이후 키이스트를 상대로 재촬영으로 인한 30억원 가량의 손해배상을 요구했다. 이에 대해서 키이스트는 “현재 진행중인 ‘달이 뜨는 강’ 관련 소송에 대해서는 끝까지 완만히 해결할 수 있도록 최선을 다할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
