Rare Champagne on a dining table [PIPER HEIDSIECK]
Rare Champagne, most well-known for being enjoyed by Marilyn Monroe, is launching its new 2008 vintage worldwide. The most recent vintage released by the champagne house, which only makes champagnes in the years it favors, was 2002. The blending master of the champagne house, Regis Camus, shared characteristics of the new vintage during an online seminar held on Tuesday with over 130 wine experts. He said 2008 was one of the best years for champagne makers and this vintage brings out much saline minerality alongside the flavors of coconut and passion fruit among others. It is said the particular champagne can age further for a few more decades and the best time to taste it will come around 2040.
