The Korea JoongAng Daily signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with esports media outlet Korizon Esports at the Korea JoongAng Daily's office in western Seoul on Wednesday. The two parties agreed to help each other's content reach new audiences, cooperate on reporting and collaborate on original content.

The Korea JoongAng Daily, established in 2000 and published in association with the New York Times, is Korea's most-cited English newspaper. In 2018, it was chosen as the official English newspaper of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

In April, the Korea JoongAng Daily became the first English daily in Korea to launch and assign a full-time reporter to a dedicated esports section. The paper's distinctive page layouts for its esports stories have drawn attention from both print and online readers.

Korizon Esports, established in 2018, is a media organization founded and operated by three-time Esports Awards nominee Ashley Kang. The outlet is best known for its fully-subtitled video interviews with League of Legends players, influencers and staff around the world.

As one of the fastest-growing media outlets in esports, Korizon regularly covers not only League of Legends Championship Korea (LCK), but also the League of Legends European Championship (LEC).

"We hope this MOU reflects our genuine interest in and dedication to furthering the boundaries of esports journalism in Korea," said Korea JoongAng Daily Managing Editor Lee Moo-young.

"We are excited to enter an MOU with one of the most respected publications in the Korean media industry," said Korizon Esports founder Ashley Kang. "We hope to extend our reach to both Korean and international audiences, as well as kick-start new content opportunities that will further the horizon of esports media."
