북한이 13개월 전에 단절시킨 남북 직통 통신선을 전격 복원했다.

Park Soo-hyun, senior Blue House secretary for public communication, announced Tuesday that Seoul and Pyongyang decided to restore all severed inter-Korean communication lines starting at 10 a.m. and made test calls.

박수현 청와대 국민소통수석은 화요일 “남북은 오전 10시를 기해 그간 단절됐던 남북 통신선을 복원하기로 하고, 시험 통화를 실시했다”고 발표했다.

This includes the Panmunjom channel at the inter-Korean border village, the inter-Korean liaison office line and two military hotlines.

이날 판문점 직통 전화, 남북연락사무소 직통 전화, 2개 군 통신선 등을 복원했다.

President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un have exchanged several letters since April related to the improvement of inter-Korean relations, said Park, and in the process agreed to restore severed communication lines.

박 수석은 남측 문재인 대통령과 북측 김정은 국무위원장이 4월부터 남북관계 개선을 위해 서신을 교환해왔고, 그 과정에서 단절됐던 통신선들을 복구하기로 합의했다고 말했다.

The two leaders agreed to “restore mutual trust between the two Koreas as soon as possible and move forward with the relationship again,” said Park.

박 수석은 “두 정상이 가급적 이른 시일내에 남북의 상호신뢰를 복원하고 다시 관계를 진전시키기로 합의했다”고 말했다.

On June 9, 2020 Pyongyang unilaterally cut off all inter-Korean communication lines in protest of what it claimed were Seoul’s failures to prevent activists from sending propaganda leaflets across the border. It blew up a joint liaison office in Kaesong a week later on June 16.

남한 정부가 선전전단을 북으로 날려보내는 것을 막지 않았다고 비난하면서 2020년 6월 9일 북한은 일방적으로 남북 직통 통신선들을 모두 단절시켰다. 일주일 후인 6월 16일에는 개성에 위치한 남북연락사무소 건물을 폭파시켰다.
