An official from the Seoul city government monitors vehicles without an emission control device at Seoul City Hall in central Seoul on Wednesday. The Ministry of Environment will be cracking down on diesel-fueled vehicles that release high amounts of pollutants from Wednesday to March 31, 2022, in order to reduce fine dust in the air, which gets especially bad during the wintertime. Accordingly, operations of some 860,000 diesel-fueled vehicles that have not installed an emission control device are expected to face limitations as authorities begin crackdowns in around 550 locations across the country.
