Third member of boy band The Boyz tests positive for Covid-19

A third member of boy band The Boyz has tested positive for Covid-19, according to its agency IST Entertainment Thursday.

“After an additional polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken on Wednesday, Hyunjae has tested positive for the Covid-19,” IST Entertainment revealed on the band’s official fan community Thursday.

Prior to Hyunjae, Eric and Younghoon tested positive on Monday and Wednesday respectively.

“With the exception of Hyunjae, the other eight members and staff tested negative for the virus,” the agency said. “We are planning to regularly take PCR tests and self-testing kits in case the virus remains dormant.”

Earlier this week, Eric contracted the virus after having dinner with an acquaintance who later tested positive for Covid-19. Younghoon took a PCR test Tuesday night and reported that he tested positive Wednesday.

The Boyz is an 11 member group that debuted in 2017. It consists of Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Ju Haknyeon, Sunwoo and Eric. It gained more popularity after winning Mnet's music competition show "Road to Kingdom" (2020).
