The8, a member of Seventeen, will release a song in Chinese on March 18, according to Pledis Entertainment on Monday.
 
The song "Hai Cheng," which is named after the singer's hometown of Haicheng in China's Liaoning Province, will be released as a digital single on music streaming websites.
 
This marks The8's fourth Chinese song, as well as his first solo release in almost a year since "Side By Side" in April 2021.  
 
"The8 has been participating in lyric-writing and songwriting," said his agency. "He has been conveying his feelings and authenticity through his music."
 
The8 debuted in 2015 as a member of Seventeen with the band's first EP "17 Carat." Seventeen is a 13-member multinational boy band best known for hits "Adore U" (2015), "Don't Wanna Cry" (2017) and "Ready to Love" (2021). It consists of members S.coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, Vernon, Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, Seungkwan, Hoshi, Jun, The8 and Dino.
