Actor Gang Dong-won has signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), an American talent and sports agency that represents big names such as Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Zendaya, according to Variety on Thursday.
In Korea, Gang is represented by YG Entertainment. CAA will take over Gang’s future activities overseas. Lee Jung-jae and Hoyeon of Netflix Korea’s “Squid Game” (2021) have also signed with the agency.
“Gang joins a string of Korean on-screen talent securing international representation as the country’s creative sector is propelled to the fore,” Variety wrote. The outlet wrote that Gang has a mechanical engineering degree and after debuting as a model, turned to acting. He pulled off a string of highly successful roles in hit films such as “Jeon Woo-chi: The Taoist Wizard” (2009), “Kundo: Age of the Rampant” (2014), “A Violent Prosecutor” (2016) and his latest film “Peninsula” (2020).
“He is understood to have filmed scenes for ‘Tsunami LA,’ a disaster movie backed by Hannibal Media and directed by Scott Mann,” Variety added. “If completed, the film would mark Gang’s Hollywood debut.”
Gang is expected to appear in upcoming film “Broker” directed by Hirokazu Koreeda starring alongside Song Kang-ho, Bae Doo-na and Lee Ji-eun.
