Actor Lee Min-wook has been cast as a lead in the upcoming HBO Max original drama "Além do Guarda-Roupa," according to his agency J-FLO Entertainment Thursday.

“Through his audition, Lee has been cast as K-pop idol Sang-mok in the HBO Max original drama ‘Além do Guarda-Roupa,’ which will be released worldwide in 2023,” the agency said.

Last week HBO Max released the line-up for its upcoming original series and announced the launch of "Além do Guarda-Roupa" (translated to ‘Byeond the Wardrobe’). The narrative revolves around a teenage girl who finds a portal in a closet and meets a K-pop band in Seoul by teleporting through the portal.

The series is the first-ever K-pop drama series created by the streaming platform.

Lee’s character, Sang-mok, is part of the fictional K-pop boy band Act. According to the agency, Lee has been meticulously handpicked after a three-month audition trial. Kim Jin-kwon of boy band Newkidd and Kim Woo-jin, an ex-member of boy band Stray Kids, have also been casted to feature as boy band members in the show.

Lee received the best actor award in the 4th DIMF Musical Star, a youth musical competition hosted by the Daegu International Musical Festival, in 2018. His performance was spotlighted in 2019 musical “Grease.”
