Paramount+ to launch in Korea next month in partnership with Tving

Paramount+ will launch its services in Korea next month in partnership with local streaming platform Tving.

Starting June 16, Tving will feature a Paramount+ tab and subscribers will be able to enjoy its content without paying any additional fees, according to Tving on Tuesday.

Locals will now be able to enjoy the latest shows such as the ongoing sci-fi series "Halo," psychological drama "Yellowjackets" (2021) and thriller series "Mayor of Kingstown" (2021), as well as Paramount Picture's iconic movies like the "Mission: Impossible" series (1996-) "Top Gun" (1986) and "Forest Gump" (1994), and popular CBS series "CSI" (2000-15) and "NCIS" (2003-).

It is the first time that Paramount+ is launching its services in Asia. The platform plans to expand to 48 more regions by the end of this year.

"A solid line-up of content has been established with the combination of Tving's original content and Parmount+'s content," said Yang Ji-eul, CEO of Tving. "We will continue to collaborate closely with Parmount+ to make Tving's content globally competitive."

In February, Tving announced that it will co-invest in the production of Tving's original series “Yonder” with ViacomCBS. ViacomCBS is a major media group that operates Paramount+. The series was made available in over 90 regions through Paramount+.

Tving is a local online streaming service operated through a joint venture between CJ E&M, Naver and JTBC. The platform streams various dramas, variety programs and films. It also produces original content such as the drama series “Work Later, Drink Now” and the entertainment program “Seoul Check-in.”
