[CELEB] Yeo Jin-goo and Moon Ga-young reunite in 'Link: Eat, Love, Kill'

Thirteen years after working together as child actors, Yeo Jin-goo and Moon Ga-young show they still have chemistry in tvN's new mystery-romance series “Link: Eat, Love, Kill.”

“Meeting again on set after all these years felt oddly new yet familiar," said Yeo during the drama’s online press conference on June 2. We talked a lot about our past working together and I think that helped to build strong affection between our characters.”

“There were child actors on the set of ‘Link’ as well, and it felt a little strange seeing them," said Moon. "Yeo and I had filmed together when we were their age. Watching them, we reminisced about our past."

The two leads worked together 13 years ago on SBS historical drama series “Ja Myung Go.” Yeo was 12 years old and Moon was 13 at the time.

A slew of child actors was cast in the series including Jin Ji-hee, Jin Goo and Lee Young-yoo, who are still active as actors today.

“Link: Eat, Love, Kill,” which premiered on June 6, revolves around Yeo’s Eun Gye-hoon, a chef whose emotions suddenly becomes synced with Moon's character No Da-hyun.

Episode one and two told the background story of Da-hyun, who was abused in a previous workplace and unfairly fired when she reported the incident. She then got involved with a stalker who ended up dead and she hid his corpse in the freezer.

She first suspected Gye-hoon was the stalker, but later realized that wasn't the case. Gye-hoon had been following Da-hyun because he felt a strange emotional link with her, which made him inappropriately breakout into spontaneous laughter or tears.

The episodes recorded local viewership ratings of 3.1 percent, according to Nielsen Korea.

During the press conference on June 2, Yeo said that he was nervous and worried about acting Gye-hoon.

“When I first read the script, I was unsure about how to act as if I was linked to someone else’s emotions,” said Yeo. “But I was drawn to the challenge. There weren’t many sources to use as reference so I had to use a lot of my imagination and asked questions to a lot of people.”

The idea of emotional synchronization was also an appealing factor to his co-star Moon.

“Sharing emotions with someone and being linked together sets a very advantageous setting for love to begin,” said Moon. “In other romance stories, there are often misunderstanding between two people, but thanks to this link our characters have, we know what each other is thinking even before he or she says it out loud.”

Director Hong Jong-chan, whose latest work was Netflix’s legal drama “Juvenile Justice” (2022), took the helm of the series. He said that he was exhausted after the drama and didn’t think that he would take on another project so soon.

“But when I saw the script, I felt myself having fun again and the story was so heartwarming," Hong said. "I thought that if I do this drama, I could spread energy to people who are worn out like I had been."

TvN’s “Link: Eat, Love, Kill” airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10:30 p.m.

Yeo debuted as a child actor at the age of eight through romance “Sad Movie” (2005), which starred hit actors like Jung Woo-sung, Im Soo-jung, Shin Min-a, Cha Tae-hyun and Yum Jung-ah. He portrayed Yum’s son, a playful and smart boy who pranks his mother but still loves her very much.

Seventeen years into his acting career, Yeo is only 24 years old but has acted in some forty dramas and films including tvN dramas “Hotel Del Luna” (2019) and “The Crowned Clown” (2019), and film “Hwayi: A Monster Boy” (2013).

Yeo is currently filming the remake of fantasy-romance film "Ditto" (2000) with actor Cho Yi-hyun. It is slated to premiere sometime next year.

Showing a more amicable side of Yeo off the set, the actor has appeared on various variety programs.

On season one of tvN’s “House on Wheels” (2020-21), he was a regular member along with actors Sung Dong-il and Kim Hee-won. “House on Wheels” was a weekly show that invited celebrity guests to the trio’s trailer for a day, sharing meals and discussion over food and a campfire.

He also hosted Mnet K-pop girl group audition program “Girls Planet 999” (2021), where he held the title of “Planet Master” and acted as the link between fans around the globe and the 99 contestants on the show.
