Comedians Yoo Se-yoon, Kang Yoo-mi to feature in 'Yumi's Cells'

Comedians Yoo Se-yoon and Kang Yoo-mi will feature as voice actors in hit Tving original series “Yumi’s Cells” for upcoming episodes 3 and 4, the streaming platform announced Thursday.

The series is produced by Studio Dragon, Marycow and Studio N and distributed by Tving.

Based on the popular Naver Webtoon of the same title, the narrative centers around an average, 30-something-year-old woman named Kim Yumi and some 200 different cells residing in her brain. Each of the cells has a different purpose, with some controlling her thoughts, some her emotions and others her behavior.

In Season 1, comedian Ahn Young-mi featured as one of the animated cells of the main protagonist of the series, Kim Go-eun's Yumi. Ahn portrayed the voice of the “Naughty Cell,” who comically expresses Yumi’s sexual desires.

In Season 2, which was released on the platform from June 10, Yoo will portray Yumi’s “Tongue cell,” while Kang will portray the same cell of Yumi’s co-worker and her romantic interest, Park Jin-young's Bobby.

“I envied Ahn for portraying the ‘Naughty Cell’ — and when I heard that I could portray the ‘Tongue Cell,’ I jumped at the chance because it was an area [of expression] that I was confident in,” Yoo said.

“It was a fun experience to collaborate with Yoo,” Kang said. “I hope we will be given a chance to work with Ahn too, as the ‘Naughty Cell.’”

Episode 3 and 4 of the Season 2 will be released on Tving at 4 p.m. on Friday.
