WJSN joined the battle to become this year’s K-pop “summer queen.” The girl group, also known as Cosmic Girls, dropped its EP “Sequence” on Tuesday.

“It’s an extension of our good results from ‘Queendom 2,’ as well as the beginning of a new phase for WJSN,” said WJSN’s leader EXY during a press conference on Tuesday at the Stanford Hotel Seoul in Mapo District, western Seoul.

The EP comes after the group's winning streak. WJSN recently won first place on Mnet’s competition show “Queendom 2” (2022) which aired between March and June, and saw six high-profile female K-pop stars compete against each other. It also recently held its first in-person concert in three years and three months.

"We had growing pains while competing on 'Queendom 2,' but eventually we were able to grow and win first place thanks to the experience," said member Eunseo. "I hope when people listen to our new album and see us perform, they think, 'WJSN really is good! I see why they won.'"

“Sequence” features four tracks: the lead track “Last Sequence,” “Done,” “Aura” and “Stronger.”

“Last Sequence” is a dance track fit for the summer season with plenty of dramatic synth and percussion sounds throughout the track. WJSN also premiered the mermaid-themed music video for “Last Sequence” at the press conference.

WJSN debuted in 2016 with the EP "Would You Like?" and has released hits such as "I Wish" (2017) and "As You Wish" (2019).
