Girl group aespa held its first showcase in Japan over the weekend, with a stadium full of 40,000 people, said SM Entertainment on Monday.
 
"aespa Japan Premium Showcase 200 ~Synk~" took place at the Pia Arena MM in Yokohama, Japan, on Aug. 6 and 7.
 
The girl group performed nine songs, including its hits "Black Mamba" (2020), "Next Level" (2021) and "Savage" (2021), as well as "Illusion" (2022) and "Girls" (2022) from its latest EP that dropped in July.
 
Although the showcase could only house about 40,000 people, SM Entertainment said that 920,000 people applied to attend the event.

"This is our first event in Japan," the girl group said. "We are so happy to show you our stage performance. […] Thank you for today's great memories."
 
aespa debuted in 2020 with the single "Black Mamba" and consists of four members: Karina, Winter, Giselle and NingNing.
 
Its latest EP "Girls," which dropped on July 8, sold over 1.4 million copies in the first week, setting a new record for a K-pop girl group.
