K-pop girl group NewJeans, which debuted just 17 days ago, is already receiving global attention and breaking records.

According to Billboard’s latest chart update on Tuesday, “Attention” rose to No. 51 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. The song debuted on the chart at No. 174 last week, just nine days after its release. “Hype Boy” appeared on the same chart at No. 64 this week.

The two songs also appeared on the Billboard Global 200. “Attention” is at No. 82 while “Hype Boy” is at No. 116.

Global music streaming service Spotify released its latest update Wednesday, which shows that NewJeans’ “Attention” and “Hype Boy” remained No. 1 and 2 for 15 consecutive days on Spotify Korea’s daily top song chart. On Aug. 15, the band's songs “Cookie” and “Hurt” also landed at No. 3 and 4 and have remained in those spots since. The streaming service said that NewJeans is the first K-pop girl group to simultaneously take up the first four spots. The four songs make up NewJeans’ debut EP “New Jeans.”

On Aug. 15, NewJeans also set a new record for a debuting K-pop girl group by selling precisely 311,271 copies of its first EP in a week. The physical copy of the EP went on sale on Aug. 8. The previous record was held by girl group Le Sserafim, whose debut EP “Fearless” sold 307,450 copies in the first week after its debu in May.
NewJeans debuted under HYBE’s affiliate label ADOR, led by Min Hee-jin, a former art director under K-pop powerhouse SM Entertainment. NewJeans has five members: Hanni, Minji, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein.
