Presales of Blackpink’s second full-length album “Born Pink” surpassed 2 million units, according to YG Entertainment Thursday.

“The number sets another record among K-pop female artists,” YG said. “With approximately three weeks left until the album release, we may even anticipate the presales to exceed 3 million units.”

“Born Pink” marks the girl group’s return to the music scene after a year and 10 months. Its first full-length album “The Album” was released in October 2020 and became the first-ever million-seller among K-pop girl groups. The presales for the second album exceeded 1.5 million units one week since the reservations opened.

It’s highly anticipated that the album sales will sharply increase with the upcoming world tour to promote the new album from Oct. 15. A total of 36 locations for the tour have been announced so far.

The girl group finished filming for the music video of its lead track yesterday.

The members are to head to Incheon International Airport today to participate at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in New Jersey on Aug. 28.

“All of the songs in the album are the turning point of the girl group, expected to start a new chapter of Blackpink’s history,” YG said. “Especially the album’s lead track.”
