SK Broadband is taking innovative steps to create an eco-conscious business culture while adopting methods to collaborate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) focused business models and reducing carbon emissions.  
 
SK Broadband features programs and documentaries designed to highlight ESG content monthly by curating its media sources. The company has been sponsoring the Seoul International Eco Film Festival since 2021 and award-winning or notable content featured in the event are introduced though SK Broadband’s B tv channels.  
 
A range of campaigns have been promoted via the company’s On-Ad services, an outlet where individuals can freely advertise their content by video, image or even text. Through what SK Broadband identifies as a “digital signage solution,” an environmental foundation called Seanack advertised a campaign where trash collected from beaches could be exchanged into marine animal-shaped crackers. After getting consent from franchises that had this channel, SK Broadband transmitted Seanack’s campaign videos to roughly 1,000 shops.  
 
SK Broadband’s participation in the Media Creation Contest is one of the company’s enthusiastic ESG efforts. The Media Creation Contest is held twice every year and is led by the Media Creation Support Center to foster young minds and talent in vital issues of modern society. All citizens who are interested in spreading ESG values can participate in this meaningful event to raise the awareness of social and environmental issues.
 
The fourth contest was held in July this year under the theme, “ESG in our society”. Exhibits of the media project proposals in the forms of interviews, quiz shows and campaigns were displayed and awards were given in the following month.  
 
From the hottest issues like veganism, zero waste and plogging to constant social concerns like factory farms, children’s rights to play and urbanization, various themes were interpreted from new perspectives and insight.  
 
The fifth media contest is underway and open to everyone under three categories including: Educational and entertainment programs, short films and documentaries and short form content. Applications will be accepted until Nov. 3.  
 
To foster an eco-conscious business environment, SK Broadband has conducted the “Go Go Challenge” for its workers since last year, inviting employees to challenge each other to reduce single-use plastic usage.
 
This challenge has evolved to a Net Zero Practice Campaign this year. Employees upload how they have been reducing resource depletion on the company’s bulletin board, which instantly displays the amount of carbon that has been reduced in accordance to their actions.  
 
Currently, 27 percent of SK Broadband’s workers are taking part in this campaign, the equivalent of cutting 4.43 tons in carbon emissions. SK Broadband has renewed its guidelines for ESG business models throughout this year and encourages the active participation of its workers to maximize effectiveness and practicability.  
 
SK Broadband focuses on improving and designing its products to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It has invented a set top box that effectively cuts down on standby power and carbon. The company is also enlarging its online approval systems to reduce paper wasted on hard copies.  
 
SK Broadband actively participates in volunteering to establish an inclusive and warm community. In 2021, the company delivered 45,000 meals to the elderly and helped undeserved areas to prepare for the winter by providing thermal products.  
 
This year, the company is working with state welfare centers and government welfare councils to promote the healthy and happy life of elderly people. The program started in May and has been providing healthy meals and easy-to-follow exercise routines to about 5,000 elderly people.
