Korean-Japanese collaborative film “Broker” garnered a 91 percent “fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience popcorn score of 95 percent after its release in North America on Dec. 26.

“Broker” is a film depicting the unexpected journey a group of people take after finding an abandoned baby in a baby box. After the film was released in North American theaters, it recorded high ratings on the movie ratings site Rotten Tomatoes' Freshness Index and on its Popcorn Index.

The praise from overseas media comes after Song Kang-ho took home the Best Actor award for the film at the 75th Cannes International Film Festival in May last year.

BBC called it “a film that permeates naturally,” while The New York Times said “director Hirokazu Kore-eda honestly draws a happy ending.” Other outlets including the Hollywood Reporter, Slash Film, Los Angeles Times and Time Out all praised “Broker.”

“Broker” was released in France on Dec. 7 and in Spain on Dec. 21. It will be released in Portugal on Jan. 5, Denmark on Jan. 26, the U.K. on Feb. 24 and Germany on March 16.
