LG U+ disclosed Tuesday that personal information of around 180,000 of its customers has been leaked.

Police have launched an investigation into the data leak, according to the company.

“We acknowledged that some customers’ personal information has been leaked,” the company said on its website on Tuesday.

“Please note that the information could be used inappropriately.”

The personal information includes names, dates of birth and phone numbers. The company made it clear that no banking information related to payments was shared.

The network company first acknowledged that such data were hacked on Jan. 2 and requested an investigation the day after, but postponed making an announcement to confirm the leaked data and customers.

Those who have their information stolen will be notified by the company via text message or e-mail. Customers can also check whether their information was stolen via the company's  website.
