JW Marriott Hotel Seoul

Announcement: The Lounge at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul greets 2023 with a groundbreaking reinvention of its signature dim sum and small bites menus, enduring favorites among guests.

Located in the hotel’s eighth-floor Reception Lobby, The Lounge combines a cozy and casual ambiance with unique design elements to create a sophisticated and elegant interior, where luxury gourmet cuisine is served under high ceilings and in natural light ushered in through floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The recent arrival of a master dim sum chef, with experience in the kitchens of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and modern Chinese restaurant Hakkasan has brought new inspiration and expertise to The Lounge’s dim sum menu.

Authentic Hong Kong-style dim sum highlights include deliciously chewy prawn Har Gau; Siew Long Buns, filled with rich broth; Black Pork Shu Mai, made with succulent black pork neck; Scallop Shu Mai, filled with minced prawns and topped with a thick whole scallop and flying fish roe or caviar; Leek and Prawn Crystal-skinned Dumplings, thin, translucent skin filled with a fragrant blend of leeks and prawns; Prawn Gyoza with Wasabi Mayonnaise, deep-fried prawn dumplings dipped in spicy wasabi mayonnaise; and Cheung Fun, featuring whole prawns or char siu rolled into soft skin. Cheung Fun is made freshly to order from skin dough onwards, maximizing the flavor of every fresh ingredient and soft texture. Sim sum is served with special homemade chili oil and chili sauce, unlocking an even greater depth of flavor.

The dim sum menu is accompanied by a selection of small bites crafted to inspire the senses with natural aromas. Menu highlights include Tree Ears with Black Vinegar, an appetizer dressed in Chinese black vinegar for a uniquely refreshing flavor; Lychee and Prawn Balls, lychees filled with chopped prawns, coated in bread crumbs, and deep-fried until crisp; Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice, featuring chicken and pork cooked in mouthwatering duck egg yolk and infused with the aroma of lotus leaves; Prawn Wontons, Sichuan-style dumplings filled with spicy sauce and tender prawn meat; Turnip Cake, fried until golden on the outside and chewy and sticky on the inside; Chinese-style Soy Sauce Fried Rice, made with special homemade soy sauce; and Jasmine-scented Smoked Pork Back Ribs, back ribs smoked with jasmine tea leaves for a harmonious blend of sweet honey flavor and jasmine aroma.

No dim sum meal would be complete without a pot of fine Chinese tea. The Lounge offers a selection of five premium Chinese teas carefully selected to achieve a perfect harmony of flavor with the dim sum menu. Gongmei-grade Baicha is aged for at least three years for a mild aroma and gentle, sweet flavor; Gaofa Tieguanyin Oolong from China’s Minnan Region is picked at altitudes of above 1,000 meters, where the best tea is found, for a refreshing feel and soft floral aroma; and Raw and Cooked Pu’er Teas offer deliciously smooth finishes.

Dim sum at The Lounge is served as part of set menus or à la carte, with à la carte orders taken from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and set menu orders from 12 p.m. to 7:40 p.m. À la carte dishes are priced between 18,000 won ($14) and 60,000 won, while set menus, featuring between six and nine courses, are priced from 80,000 to 120,000 won, including tax and service charge.
