Lee Dong-gook appointed as KFA vice president

Korean football legend Lee Dong-gook was appointed as vice president of the Korean Football Association (KFA) on Wednesday.

The KFA held a board meeting and plenary session at KFA House in central Seoul on Wednesday to approve the appointment of three new board members.

The national governing body announced that Lee Dong-gook was elected with two other vice presidents: Cho Byeong-deuk, the chairman of the Korea Football Association Love Sharing Foundation, and Lee Seok-jae, head of the Gyeonggi Football Association.

Two incumbent vice presidents, Kim Byung-ji and Lee Yong-soo, stepped down from the board at the same time. With the changes, there are now a total of seven KFA vice presidents.

Lee Dong-gook is a Korean football legend with 33 goals for the national team and 105 caps won between 1998 and 2017. He retired from the game in 2020 after playing for 22 years.
