'Idol' earns BTS its 12th platinum certification

Boy band BTS earned its 12th platinum certification for streaming for its 2018 song “Idol.” 
 
The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), which hands out the certifications, made the announcement Monday.  
 
"Idol" was the lead track on the repackaged album "Love Yourself" (2018). The song has more than a billion views on YouTube as of Monday. 
 
The RIAJ provides four certifications for song streams according to the number of total streams — silver at 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, platinum at 100 million streams and diamond at 500 million streams.  
 
The band earned a diamond certification for the song “Dynamite” (2020) and platinum certifications for “Your eyes tell” (2020), “Fake Love” (2018) “Life Goes On” (2020) “Film Out” (2021) “DNA” (2017) and more.  
 
Its songs “Go Go” (2017) and “Make It Right” (2017) were certified gold.
 
Girl group Twice was also awarded a platinum certification for its 2020 song “More & More,” while “Meri Kuri” (2014) by singer BoA and “Very Nice” (2016) by boy band Seventeen were awarded gold certifications.
