The NC Dinos have signed former major leaguer Taylor Widener on a one-year deal worth $743,000.

The 28-year-old pitcher will earn $598,000 in annual salary with a $145,000 signing bonus.

Widener joins the Dinos from the Arizona Diamonds organization, having made his big league debut with the team in 2020. He appeared in 14 major league games last year, picking up one loss and recording a 3.63 ERA.

In the minors he made 27 appearances last year, taking two wins and two losses with a 5.40 ERA.

Widener is the last foreign player to sign with a KBO club ahead of the start of the 2023 season. He will presumably be heading straight to Arizona to join the team in spring training, which began in Tucson on Sunday.

Widener joins former Texas Rangers outfielder Jason Martin and former Washington Nationals pitcher Erick Fedde on the Dinos’ foreign player roster.
