Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman get Heroes treatment in the KBO

The Kiwoom Heroes got a visit from a couple of surprise guests in the middle of their three-game series against the LG Twins on Wednesday — from a couple of actual heroes. Or at least the Hollywood kind.

“Wasn’t expecting to be in this beautiful ballpark watching baseball in Seoul, Korea. But it happened. No take backs,” Reynolds wrote in an X post on Wednesday, also posted to Instagram.
 
 
The “Deadpool” actor also shared a handful of photos of himself, his co-star and Shawn Levy, the director of “Deadpool and Wolverine,” which is set to be released in Korea on July 24.

Reynolds and Jackman were set to hold a press conference on Thursday morning in Seoul, the second leg of a press trip around Asia.
 
“Ending day 2 on our #DeadpoolAndWolverine promo tour with two of my best mates at a baseball game in Korea?! If this is a dream, I don’t want to wake up anytime too soon,” Jackman, who plays Wolverine, wrote in his own X post on Wednesday.
 
 
And the Heroes of the KBO put on a show for their visitors, beating their Seoul rivals 4-1 after a strong start. They picked up two runs in the first and third innings and kept their lead as the Twins struggled to stay on base.

Heroes starting pitcher Enmanuel de Jesus pitched six innings, striking out eight and allowing zero runs for his 10th win of the season.  
 
De Jesus, who joined the Heroes as a starter ahead of the 2024 season, has a 3.14 ERA over 17 games and the most wins across pitchers in the KBO.

It was also a big moment for the Heroes, who on Wednesday picked up their sixth straight win — the longest winning streak in the league as of press time. They swept the NC Dinos at home last week before winning 17-6 in their first game against the Kia Tigers in Gwangju, and they kept their streak alive over the weekend by default thanks to game cancellations due to heavy monsoon rains.
 
The Heroes, who sit in last place on the 10-team table as of press time, are set to play their final game of the week against the Twins on Thursday before regular season games pause for the All-Star break.
