The Doosan Bears on Thursday signed pitcher Jordan Balazovic on a deal worth $250,000 and released Raul Alcantara, their former ace.
Balazovic, 25, comes to the Bears from a career spent mostly in the minors, moving up from the rookie leagues in 2016.
He made his MLB debut last June with the Minnesota Twins, recording a 4.44 ERA over 18 games with one win and zero losses.
The right-hander has spent the 2024 season with the St. Paul Saints, the Triple-A affiliate of the Twins, with a 5.60 ERA over 24 games with five wins and four losses.
Alcantara recorded 20 wins for the Bears in 2020 before leaving to join the NPB's Hanshin Tigers and returned to the KBO in 2023. He returned to the mound for the Bears after dealing with an injury earlier this season but has struggled, last pitching in a game against the Lotte Giants on Wednesday where he recorded a 27.00 ERA.
The Bears were scheduled to play the Giants on Thursday evening at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in southern Seoul as of press time.
