Hanji artworks made by NewJeans to be auctioned off to benefit traditional paper makers

Artworks made by girl group NewJeans using hanji, traditional Korean mulberry paper, to go on auction this weekend [KCDF]

Two pieces of hanji, traditional Korean paper, works made by girl group NewJeans will be auctioned off by the Korea Craft and Design Foundation (KCDF), the state-run craft institute said Thursday.

The two pieces were made by the members of NewJeans while they took part in a hanji-making workshop with hanji-maker Ahn Chi-yong for a promotional video for the Korean traditional mulberry paper uploaded on YouTube last month.

One is a hanji-decorated light with a flower pattern and the other is a hanji artwork collage made with pieces of hanji on a large canvas.

The online auction will start Saturday 3 p.m. through the KCDF's website and finish the day after on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The profit will go to supporting hanji makers.
