Nexon’s upcoming online first-person shooter game The Finals will start its global beta test on March 7, on the game platform Steam on PC.

The game, developed by Embark Studio, a subsidiary company of Nexon, is planned to release The Finals on both PC and on consoles — PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.

“The Finals offers a completely new gameplay experience that is unlike any other game in the shooter genre,” said the co-founder of Embark Studio, Rob Runesson.

“We invite you to experience the dynamism of the collapse of everything in the game and the fun of endless strategic play,” he added.

Co-founders of the studio, Rob Runesson and Patrick Soderlund were both long-time developers and executives at the game company Electronic Arts with Soderlund best known for his role as the former Chief Design Officer at EA and the CEO of DICE. DICE, a subsidiary of EA, is responsible for developing the renowned first-person shooter franchise, Battlefield. The franchise was very popular for its real-time destructive environments.

Soderlund and the former employees at DICE left EA and founded Embark Studio after the lukewarm success of the 2018 game Battlefield V. The developer’s first upcoming title, The Finals has garnered expectations from gamers for its real-time destructive environments shown in the gameplay trailers, similar to those seen in the Battlefield franchise of games.
