J-Hope will be the second member of boy band BTS to start his military service.
The singer's agency BigHit Music said Sunday through the fan community app Weverse that he has canceled his enlistment postponement request to the government and will start his 2-year service as soon as a date is set.
"We will inform you with related information as it comes," the company said in the notice.
"We hope for your unwavering love and support until J-Hope finishes his duty and comes back, and we also promise to give our utmost support to the artist."
J-Hope, whose real name is Jeong Ho-seok, was born in February 1994 and debuted in 2013 as the singer and rapper of BTS. He is well known for his fluid dance skills and bright and friendly personality on television and in press interviews.
He will be the second member to enlist, following Jin, the oldest member of the group whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, who started his service last December.
