BTS's Suga tops charts with 'People Pt.2' collab with IU
Suga of boy band BTS is topping charts around the world with "People Pt.2," his second collaboration with singer IU released Friday.
As of Saturday at 9 a.m., the song sat at the No. 1 spot on the iTunes chart in 87 regions including the United States, Britain and Canada, with its music video surpassing 9 million views as of Sunday noon.
It also topped Oricon's Daily Digital Single Ranking, according to the chart's update on Saturday. The song was streamed over 3.4 million times on global streaming service Spotify just a day after its release.
"People Pt.2" is a track off of his upcoming album "D-DAY," which will be the BTS rapper's first official solo album, set to be released on April 21 under the name Agust D.
“D-DAY” will be Suga's first official solo album and will also conclude his Agust D trilogy, following the release of two mixtapes, “Agust D” (2016) and “D-2” (2020).
Agust D, Suga’s second stage name, is an anagram of “D tsugA” which refers to “Daegu town Suga,” or Suga from his hometown Daegu. The two mixtapes released under the stage name Agust D were released on SoundCloud in 2016 and 2020.
A documentary showing his struggles and joys during making of the album will also be released on April 21 at 11 p.m., under the title "SUGA: Road to D-DAY" on Disney+ and Weverse.
