Disney store to open at Hyundai Department Store

The first Disney store in Korea will open at Hyundai Department Store’s Pangyo branch in July.

Hyundai Department Store and Walt Disney Company Korea formed a partnership to open stores selling Disney merchandises both online and offline, the department store announced Thursday.

Merchandise from iconic Disney intellectual properties such as Mickey Mouse, Snow White, Cinderella and the Toy Story series will be available for sale at the store’s Pangyo branch in Gyeonggi.

Three additional stores will open at The Hyundai Seoul, Cheonho branch and Hyundai Premium Outlet in Gimpo this year.

An online store will open on Hyundai Department Store’s website (thehyundai.com) in July.

Before the official opening of the first store, the department store will open a pop-up store next Tuesday on the fifth floor of the Pangyo branch, selling some 700 merchandise items including figures, dolls, clothes and household products.

“After long discussions and effort, Korea is finally getting a Disney store,” said Hyundai Department Store’s CEO Kim Hyung-jong. “Hyundai Department Store’s determination to provide new experiences to consumers coincided with the needs of Walt Disney Company Korea to reach out to domestic consumers.”
