Hyundai Steel earns EPD certification in industry first

Hyundai Steel has earned an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification from the Ministry of Environment for its flagship H-beam steel product. As the first certification in the domestic steel industry, Hyundai Steel has now secured a total of 13 EPD-certified products and one low-carbon certified product.

Low-carbon product certification targets low-carbon consumerism with carbon emissions reduction and is certified among EPD-certified products.

Hyundai Steel’s H-shaped beams are created through the recycling of iron scraps. It has acquired Good Recycled Product certification in recognition of its eco-friendliness, proving its contribution to establishing a low-carbon society.

In addition, Hyundai Steel has recently built a product portfolio with low-carbon, high-strength steel plates, accelerating its environmentally-friendly production.

Hyundai Steel recently unveiled its 2050 carbon-neutral road map, presenting its commitment to a low-carbon production system transition. “Hyundai Steel will show technology and capabilities with electric furnaces via its low-carbon certification,” an official of Hyundai Steel said, adding Hyundai Steel will take another leap forward by leading ESG management with carbon emission reduction efforts as well as accelerating its low-carbon global market penetration.
