Boy band Stray Kids' new album to debut atop Billboard 200 albums chart
Boy band Stray Kids will debut atop Billboard 200 albums chart for the third time with its latest album "★★★★★ (5-STAR)" in the chart's upcoming update this week, the U.S. music service said Sunday.
This is the third time for JYP Entertainment's boy band to sit at No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart, following the two EPs released last year — "Oddinary" and "Maxident."
"★★★★★ (5-STAR)" sold 235,000 copies of physical album copies in the United States. Adding the stream counts, the score came in at 249,500 for Stray Kids, the highest for the group, bringing it straight to the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
Stray Kids has been seeing a new career-high with its latest album.
The band's third full-length album, released on June 2, sold 4,617,499 copies during the first week of its release, the highest ever in K-pop. The success had been anticipated as pre-orders for "★★★★★" surpassed 5.14 million copies before its release, also the highest number ever in Korea.
