Chamber Orchestra Vienna— Berlin will visit Korea for the first time in June and July to present six concerts, its organizer SBU& Partners announced Wednesday.

Chamber Orchestra Vienna— Berlin, also known as Kammerorchester Wien-Berlin, is a chamber orchestra made in collaboration between two renowned orchestras — the Berliner Philharmoniker of Germany and Wiener Philharmoniker of Austria — in celebration of the 50th birthday of Sir Simon Rattle in 2008, then conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Led by concert master Rainer Honeck, the chamber orchestra will first be performing in Seogwipo Art Center in Jeju on June 28, followed by performances in LG Arts Center in western Seoul on June 29, Haman Culture & Art Center, South Gyeongsang on June 30, Art Center Incheon on July 1, Tongyeong Concert Hall, South Gyeongsang on July 2, and finishing with a performance in Seoul at the Lotte Concert Hall in eastern Seoul on July 4.

“I’m glad and excited to meet the audience like this, after a long and tough day of the pandemic. I hope people enjoy the concert, which will be an opportunity to share the legacy of music with everyone,” said Honeck.

The chamber orchestra will be performing Mozart’s “Symphony No. 1, K.16,” “Violin Concerto No.5 in A Major, K.219,” “Eine kleine Nachtmusik, K.525” and “J. Hayden’s Symphony No.49 in f minor, Hob.I:49.”

Tickets for the LG Arts Center performance range from 50,000 won ($39) to 140,000 won.
