LG Innotek opened internships specifically for international students for the first time, also planning to give outstanding interns a chance to transition into regular employees.

The company announced Monday it first started offering the internship as it needed to recruit foreign talent amid its growing international business.

Job seekers will be able to apply to various divisions such as research and development, marketing, business planning and management, manufacturing and finance.

International students currently enrolled as a junior or senior in an undergraduate program at a Korean university and international students enrolled in a graduate or doctorate program in Korea are eligible to apply. Korean proficiency of TOPIK level 4 or above is required.

The company said that ability to speak Vietnamese, Chinese, Spanish, Polish and Indonesian is one of the preferred qualifications.

LG Innotek will assign mentors to each intern to make onboarding easier. The company will also host networking events for the interns to attend.

Selected candidates will work at LG Innotek offices in Magok in western Seoul, Ansan in Gyeonggi and Gumi in North Gyeongsang between July 20 and August 17.

After the internship ends, outstanding interns selected by the company will be given a chance to sit in another interview and transition into regular employees.

"We will actively recruit global talent that can contribute to the company's innovation and growth," Jeong Cheol-dong, president and CEO of LG Innotek, said. "By hiring various talent, we plan to strengthen our competitiveness and unique customer value."
