CheongKwanJang changes name to JUNG KWAN JANG

Korea Ginseng Corporation’s (KGC) flagship red ginseng brand CheongKwanJang is now “JUNG KWAN JANG” both in the country and overseas, the ginseng affiliate of KT&G announced Monday.

The ginseng brand’s name has been written either in Korean characters or the English alphabet on the packaging of its products. The English name — particularly the “Cheong” portion — also resulted in various pronunciations globally, according to KGC.

To prevent further misspellings and mispronunciations, KGC will use the JUNG KWAN JANG name, starting in some of its oriental herb supplements produced this month.

JUNG KWAN JANG’s brand identity, logo and packaging designs will be spruced up as well.

JUNG KWAN JANG has been leading the global ginseng market for 10 consecutive years in terms of sales, accounting for more than 40 percent of the market share.
