JYP Entertainment will debut its first Japan-focused boy band through the second season of “Nizi Project.”

First starting in 2019, “Nizi Project” is a collaborative project between JYP Entertainment and Japan's Nippon TV that holds idol group auditions. The first season of “Nizi Project,” which aired in 2020, saw the nine-member girl group NiziU debut in July of the same year. The girl group is seeing nationwide popularity in Japan.

The teaser video released Tuesday ahead of the first episode, which will drop Friday, showed Park Jin-young back in the seat, giving comments to the participants of “Nizi Project.” Park, also known by his stage name JYP, is the founder and chief creative officer of JYP Entertainment.

Having held auditions in multiple cities around Japan, the United States, and in Seoul, more than 10,000 applicants have submitted applications for the show, according to the agency.

Episodes of season two of “Nizi Project” will be uploaded on YouTube every Friday at 10 p.m. Korean time starting this Friday, and the program will be available on Hulu for Japanese viewers.
