KBL team Jeonju KCC Egis signed former NBA player Alize Johnson Thursday, reinforcing the squad ahead of the 2023-24 season.
The American power forward, 27, made his pro debut at NBA team Indiana Pacers in 2018, but signed with the Raptors 905 of the NBA G League — a minor league under the NBA — in 2020 after failing to establish himself as a key player at the Pacers.
Johnson then moved to the NBA again, joining clubs including the Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards and New Orleans Pelicans, but was released by all of them after a short contract.
He last played for NBA G League team Wisconsin Herd, where he averaged 16.5 points in 11 games.
The move to the KBL marks the first time Johnson has played overseas. He can play in multiple positions and will likely boost KCC’s defense and attack.
The upcoming 2023-24 KBL season will include a number of former NBA stars, as the Goyang Sono Skygunners signed former NBA star Anthony Bennett last month.
KCC finished last season in sixth place on the 10-team table and managed to reach the playoffs.
The 2023-24 season will start on Oct. 21 and run through March 31 next year.
