Suwon FC’s Lars Veldwijk arrested for drunk driving

Suwon FC’s Lars Veldwijk was arrested for drunk driving near Sinsa Station in southern Seoul at around 4 a.m. on Monday, according to Seoul Gangnam Police Station.
The police received a report earlier from a driver in the area saying that there appeared to be a drunk driver.
A sobriety test showed that Veldwijk’s blood alcohol content was over 0.08 — high enough for police to revoke his license.
Veldwijk did not cause any damage to property or people in the area and did not have a passenger in his vehicle.
Veldwijk has played for Suwon FC since 2020 and has made the second most goal contributions this season in the K League with 14, including a goal against local rivals Suwon Samsung Bluewings on Saturday.
Suwon FC will open disciplinary actions against Veldwijk. The club may even terminate his contract, as was the case with former Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors player Takahiro Kunimoto.
Jeonbuk terminated the contract with Kunimoto last year after he was caught drunk driving.
