A K-pop concert that was part of the World Scout Jamboree will take place at Seoul World Cup Stadium in Sangam, western Seoul, on Friday, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced Tuesday.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m.

The closing ceremony of the controversial event will also be held together with the K-pop concert, the ministry said.

Details including the concert lineup will be announced later.

The ministry said that relocating the concert venue to Seoul World Cup Stadium was inevitable due to Typhoon Khanun, which is forecast to pass through the peninsula.

It also took into consideration the fact that most of the scouts who had left Saemangeum are currently being relocated to Seoul and surrounding Gyeonggi.

Other factors that were taken into account in selecting the venue include the stadium’s size and safety precautions.

The soccer stadium has the capacity to hold 66,000 people.

“It was inevitable to change the plan of ending the Jamboree with a K-pop concert at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium due to the altered course of the typhoon,” said Culture Minister Park Bo-gyoon. “However, the K-pop concert part of the Saemangeum Jamboree will continue.”
