The local cast of the musical "Rent" is holding a one-day rock concert on Oct. 30, ahead of the show's opening.

"Rent-Rock Concert" is slated to be held at 6:30 p.m. at Coex's Live Plaza in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, which is an open space inside the Coex mall's basement level 2 floor, according to the show's production company, Sensee Company, on Tuesday.

The concert is free and open to anyone. It will not be streamed online.

All 24 actors cast in the upcoming musical will be present at the concert and will perform 12 numbers from "Rent."

"The actors will be reinterpreting the songs in different musical styles including rock, R&B, ballad, tango and gospel," Sensee Company said.

The musical "Rent" will open on Nov. 11, with preview performances, at the COEX Shinhan Artium performance venue. It will run through Feb. 25, 2024. The show was last staged in Korea in 2020.

This season features Jang Ji-hoo and Bae Hyeong-hun as Roger; Jeong Wong-yeong and Bae Doo-hun as Mark; Kim Hwan-hee and Lee Ji-yeon as Mimi; Kim Ho-young and Jo Kwon as Angel; Yoon Hyeong-ryeol and Lim Jeong-mo as Colin; Jeon Na-yeong and Kim Su-yeon as Maureen; Jeong Da-hee and Bae Soo-jeong as Joanne; and Gu Jun-mo as Benny.

"Rent" is an American musical by Jonathan Larson, inspired by Giacomo Puccini's opera "La Bohême" (1896). It depicts the lives of young, aspiring artists in New York City during the late '80s and early '90s.
