According to the Seoul Children's Grand Park Zoo on Tuesday, Coco died on Oct. 16 after arriving at a veterinary hospital for surgery after her abdomen distended.
Coco had been with Sero since she moved to Seoul from Gwangju in June and was only a year old at the time.
She came to the Seoul zoo after Sero made headlines in March for escaping the zoo and wandering around in Seoul.
It was later found out that Sero, who was born in 2021 and a year older than Coco, was suffering from depression after his parents died.
The zoo said at the time that Sero's behavior became "rebellious" after his loss, and he even picked a fight with a kangaroo.
