Standard Chartered Bank Korea is promoting the Jaeil EZ Account, offering up to a 3.6 percent annual interest rate before taxes, even for one-day deposits.

Account holders enjoy a guaranteed 2.6 percent basic interest rate on daily balances, with new customers eligible for the highest 3.6 percent interest rate among similar products at other banks.

For its promotion campaign, Standard Chartered released a video in the form of a mini drama, in which actress Kim Young-ok plays the owner of a gukbap (hot soup with rice) restaurant.

Kim, born in 1937, is one of the longest-running actress in Korea and has gained the title of K-Grandma following her performance in the Netflix drama “Squid Game.”

In the video, Kim, a warmhearted restaurant owner, cordially introduces the bank’s products to customers who had no knowledge of their benefits and evokes a sense of familiarity.

Additionally, izi, renowned for his hit song “Emergency Room,” one of the most requested songs in noraebang (singing rooms), has also joined Standard Chartered’s campaign.

In a brief video, he performs both hip-hop and trot versions of “Emergency Room,” with the lyrics modified to highlight the product's benefits. The campaign video is currently accessible on Standard Chartered Bank Korea's official YouTube channel.

“We expect our promotional campaigns will enable us to reach a broader range of customers who may not have heard about the product yet,” Bae Soon-chang, head of SC Korea's savings products department, said.

Additional product information is available on Standard Chartered Bank Korea's website and mobile banking application.
