G-Dragon shows up for questioning on illegal drug use allegations

Singer G-Dragon arrived at the Incheon Nonhyun Police Station at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
 
The K-pop star, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong, has been investigated by the police under suspicion of illegal drug use. The police had not summoned him, but he expressed through his attorney on Oct. 30 that he would voluntarily go in for questioning.

“I did not get involved in any kind of illegal drug use, and I am here today to reveal the truth,” G-Dragon said as he stood in front of hundreds of reporters and police, who were dispatched for crowd control.
 
When asked if he recently dyed or bleached his hair, G-Dragon said no and added that he would like to go inside “to be questioned rather than saying too much here.”
 
When asked whether he’s been to the membership-only adult entertainment establishment in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, G-Dragon said, “Let’s wait and see.”
 
The manager of the establishment in question is also being investigated by the police for drug-related allegations. Actor Lee Sun-kyun was summoned for the second time on Saturday after the police had discovered Lee’s involvement in the drugs that were being circulated at this establishment.

G-Dragon, who debuted as a member of the boy band Big Bang in 2006, was previously questioned for marijuana use in 2011 by the Korean prosecutors' office, but his indictment was suspended at the time after he confessed to inhaling the substances unintentionally.
