A Porsche driver — high on drugs — was busted after police found him sleeping in his car in the middle of the road on Sunday.

According to Seoul Gangnam Police on Tuesday, the man in his 30s was sleeping in his vehicle parked on the southern end of Dongho Bridge headed toward Gangnam, southern Seoul, at 5:43 a.m. Sunday.

The driver, who was not identified, tested positive for marijuana and ketamine.

The police have requested an arrest warrant for the man for drug and traffic violations.

The incident began when the authorities received a report that a vehicle was parked in the middle of the road.

Responding to the report, the police initially suspected drunk driving and tested the driver for alcohol.

However, his blood alcohol level was only 0.03 percent, too low to explain his impaired state.

So, the police conducted a drug test, which came back positive.

The police also searched the driver’s residence in Geumho-dong, Seongdong District in eastern Seoul, where they found about one hundred empty Ziploc bags.

The police believed the empty plastic bags contained drugs, suggesting the suspect had been using drugs for a very long time.

The Porsche was registered under a company owned by the driver's father.

The driver was also working for his father.

Accidents involving luxury cars and drugs have been on the rise.

A 28-year-old man ran over a woman with a Rolls-Royce in Apgujeong, Gangnam on Aug. 2.

He tested positive for seven different drugs.

In September, the driver of a Lamborghini Urus SUV was arrested after wielding a knife during a parking dispute with another driver in Gangnam at 4 p.m.

The driver tested positive for meth, ecstasy and ketamine.

According to the police agency, traffic violations account for the largest share of drug-related crimes.

Between 2018 and 2022, 1,083 crimes were committed while under the influence of drugs.

Some 282, or 26 percent, were traffic crimes, including car accidents.

Robbery trailed behind with 213 or 19.78 percent. Assault took third place with 112 or 10.3 percent, followed by rape with 92 or 8.5 percent. Twelve people committed murder while high on drugs, while eight committed attempted murder.
