Hanwha Eagles re-sign Felix Pena on one-year, $1.05 million deal
The Hanwha Eagles have re-signed pitcher Felix Pena on a one-year deal worth up to $1.05 million.
The 33-year-old right-hander will receive $650,000 in guaranteed salary with a $200,000 signing bonus and can earn up to $200,000 in incentives, the team announced Saturday.
Pena will head back to the Eagles for a third year in a row. He has a career 3.64 ERA with 16 wins and 15 losses over 45 total games started in the KBO.
He joined the Eagles during the middle of the 2022 season as a free agent after a brief stint with the Syracuse Mets, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets. Pena replaced American pitcher Nick Kingham, who the Eagles released after an arm injury.
Pena made his MLB debut in 2016, playing two seasons for the Chicago Cubs and four seasons for the Los Angeles Angels. He moved between the Majors and the Minors throughout those six years, earning a 4.66 ERA with 15 wins and eight losses over 104 games and 24 starts in the MLB.
KBO teams can sign up to three foreign players per season. The Eagles earlier signed outfielder Yonathan Perlaza on a one-year deal worth up to $1 million, the threshold where salaries are capped for first-year foreign players
